Whether you have coffee stains on a white carpet, mascara stains from makeup mishaps, or your dog just doesn’t understand that the carpet is not the bathroom; all carpets need a little attention and care every now and then. Stains can be overwhelming, but do not fear! Here are a few easy tricks to remove those stubborn stains.

FIRST OF ALL: Try using baby wipes to remove stains, baby wipes are miracle-workers on carpets!
If baby wipes just won’t cut it, here are tips for specific stains:
Mascara and Eye-liner Stains: Dab dish-washing liquid with a drop or two of water onto the stains. Let the carpet dry and brush off any remaining scum.
Blood Stains: Soak the stain in hydrogen peroxide, wash (don’t dry), and repeat if necessary.
Ink Stains: Apply rubbing alcohol on the stain and it disappears right away!
Coffee Stains: Blot up as much coffee as possible. Mix one tablespoon of liquid hand dishwashing detergent and one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water. Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with the detergent/ vinegar solution. Apply a little bit at a time, blotting frequently with a dry cloth until the stain disappears.
Paint Stains: Spray with Windex and wipe clean.
Permanent Marker: Use a washcloth soaked in rubbing alcohol to dab onto the stain. Do not rub- just dab it, rotating the cloth to use a clean spot every time.
Pet Urine: Blot up as much as you can with paper towels. Then blot the area with warm, soapy water and a clean cloth. Next rinse with hot water and blot until dry. Then, combine 1/3 cup white vinegar with 2/3 cup water and dab it onto the stain. Again, rinse the area with clean water and blot it dry. After 24 hours, and the carpet is dry, sprinkle the entire carpet with baking soda and vacuum it up after a few hours.
Smashed Down Carpet: To make the carpet stand back up after moving a piece of furniture, put a cube of ice on the spot. As the cube melts, the carpet will stand back up.
